MOTHERS UNION - 3rd Tuesday of month

“What do Mothers’ Union members actually do?” is a question we are often asked.  As we look around the different areas of our church life there we are!

Beginning with our vicar, Penny, Licensed Lay Minister Pam who all lead and support us in our Christian lives.  Other member are servers, Lay Eucharist Assistants, Sidespersons, Lay Pastoral Assistants, Sunday Children's work, choir members, flower arrangers, ‘Holy Dusters’, office volunteers, lunch club helpers, Café Church, after church coffee makers, supporters of the church fairs and social events, Community Afternoon Teas.

This past August we held the Big Coffee Morning with stalls – a suggestion made by one of our members to help make up for the loss of revenue for church. What a wonderful event with so many of the community coming to enjoy time spent together with lovely coffee and cakes.

Now what else are we involved with?  We support the Mothers’ Union Overseas fund and the Holiday fund for families in need of a break.  We have provided teddies for the children on these holidays.  When items are needed for the Women’s Refuge we collect for them.   Other project we have been involved with are Knitting Twiddle mitts for dementia patients, red hats for babies in hospital who need a little extra nursing care, tops and hats for the Fish and Chip babies (babies in Africa are often sent home wrapped in newspaper, hence ‘Fish and Chip babies’).  We have collected socks, scarves, gloves etc. For the homeless in our area.

Thanks to your continued support of the Country Markets we have been able to donate money to some of our local charities too.

Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8pm, preceded by Holy Communion at 7.15pm.  You are welcome to come along.

Look out for the programme coming soon!
